Tricky Capri Sun paper straw record finally claimed by speed eater Mike Jack | Guinness World Records

Champion speed eater Mike Jack has done what many thought was impossible – broken the record for fastest time to drink a Capri Sun (paper straw).
Trust us, it’s WAY tougher than it sounds.
Many people, including Mike, had tried and failed in the past, leaving the record unclaimed until now.
During a visit to Guinness World Records HQ in London, Mike, from Canada, decided to shoot his shot one more time.
And it finally paid off thanks to some clever tactics from his wife and coach, Jamie.
Mike, a serial record breaker, claimed the title with a time of 21.71 seconds.
The fastest time to drink a Capri Sun – a regular one with a plastic straw – is just 8.02 seconds, achieved by Fayis Nazer (India).
That just goes to show the difference in difficulty the paper straw creates.
Guinness World Records Adjudicator Juliet Dawson explained to Mike that his attempt would be disqualified if there was any more than half a teaspoon of liquid left in the pouch after he was finished drinking.
The same thing would happen if he spilled any of the juice.
He had to do it in 22 seconds or less to claim the record.
Mike put his game face on for the attempt, being very precise with his movements to ensure he didn’t waste time fumbling with the straw.
After drinking the pouch’s contents, Mike nervously watched as Juliet cut open the packet to check how much liquid was left inside.
And he breathed a sigh of relief when it measured to be exactly half a teaspoon, bagging him the record title.
Mike’s wife Jamie joined him and gave him a kiss on the cheek to celebrate his achievement.
“Thanks, coach,” he said.
“Her technique got it for us,” he went on to explain. “Do a little extra blow to get some more air in there, get all the liquid out of the creases and then suck it in.
“That’s what did it.”
As he was handed his certificate, Mike added: “Even though I barely got it, I’m very happy that I finally achieved this one. This one I worked really hard for.”
Mike, who has his own YouTube Channel called Mike Jack Eats Heat!, holds a string of eating records, usually focussing on the spicier titles.
He currently also holds these records:
